SOUNDS OF HOPE & OPTIMISM
Look at this lot. Listen to this lot.
Kept them close. Didnt loose plot.
Yes, yes my Style Mongers- offering up an August Bank Holiday musical compilation of hope and optimism just as Summer is officially gone gone. Felt like big, significant, long Summer and this sound track was about the beginning of the end of it. Felt like need for back up began right back on June 3rd, day after my 50th birthday. The lyrics of Back To My Roots by Lamont Dozier hit me strongly while running by the wide river looking for answers. Those lyrics stayed*.
That was just the start of the new phase/feeling, and it has continued. All of these songs/artists have helped bring joy, connection and perspective. Had to share their works, along with images of some of the players, too, though not all of them... (that search might turn trully mental. Am on it mind, finding a couple more guys but its really all about the sounds).
Sounds start with all sorts of soul/Jazz/Latin vibes from boys like Vince, Lamont, Curtis and Marvin. But then goes folk-hippie with Hawkwind, America & double Joni via some twists in the middle. The music communicates infinitely better than me typing words out, so have a listen if you not found the riches and you’ve got the time.
Stubbs out.
*“I feel my spirit gettin' old, It's time to recharge my soul, I'm zippin' up my boots Goin' back to my roots, Yeah. Not found the riches that I've got the time, finding out happiness is just a state of mind, just a state of mind, just a state of mind”
