MOODWALL No.5 - CHICANO OVERSHIRT STYLE
Evening Style Mongers. Am double happy to ‘working’ with Benjamin Glyn Phillips (click) off of Drakes, 9 Savile Row, for a Chicano overshirt styling Moodwall in The Row Stance atelier at 31 Savile Row. Been diggin’ an overshirt styled in the Cholo manner, done up only at the top button, then discovered that Ben Chicano style culture devotee.
CHICANO SHIRT STANCES (SPOT THE TAFF)
No actual men of Mexican/Hispanic descent were consulted for the making of this video, and intel came direct from two blokes who hail from right down the bloody M4. That said, Ben and I both got angles. Go check Bens playlist in OFF ROW too (click-nearly), when I get it up, that is, like before tea today, yeah?
STUBBS CHOLO OVERSHIRT STYLE SS20
I did a bit of Chicano inspired overshirt styling the night before, see above, but all stances are all on a fully credited post on the Overshirt matter in OFF ROW (el clicho). Overshirts reviewed include Drakes (click 1) , Anderson&Sheppard Habba (click 2), Connolly (click 3), Rochas, The Row (click 4), Katharine Hamnett (click 5) and Issey Miyake Homme Plisse (click 6) if ya keen to know more.
I also styled some actual Chicano fellas back in 1998 in South Central LA. Mono, Trivilin & Lil’ Man, shot by my pal Jake Walters (clickington). I put them in current ranking street labels favoured by certain UK gangs, for contrast. I mentioned Cholo top button stance to Trivilin below. “Like maybe for my Grand-Pappy” he said without smiling. Here he is, not smiling in Stone Island.
Signing out of this one, as think we covered it, no? Season moving on and all that- bloody hell I am slow- anyway, something to consider maybe?
Stubbs out.
PS. Thinking bout getting “Aint nuthin’ but a Row thing baby” tattooed round my neck next month, but gonna see how this whole Row Stance thing pans out first maybe.
